This award does not pay one set of rates. The table above is the stream covering most employees. These streams differ:

 • Catering services employees: Clause 21.3(a)(iii). Sunday ordinary hours in catering services are 175%, not the 200% that applies everywhere else in the award. Saturday and public holiday are unchanged.

All values are percentages of the base hourly rate. Casual rates shown are inclusive of the 25% casual loading on top of the FT/PT rate. For your own dollar amounts, use the FWO Pay Calculator.

These are the percentages. To turn them into dollars for a specific roster, the penalty rates calculator prices Saturday, Sunday, public holiday and shift hours against this award’s own classification rates.

Day workers get a flat 17.5% on the minimum hourly rate. Shift workers get the same flat 17.5%. The 17.5% is calculated on the annual leave payment itself (clause 22.2(b)), so for an employee on a Supported Wage System assessed rate the loading follows the assessed rate rather than the full grade rate. All-purpose allowances go in first (clause 18.2(a)).
Annual Leave, Loading & RDO

Award-specific provisions.

Where this award goes beyond, or sits at, the NES floor.

Annual leave5 weeks/year

An employee regularly rostered to work ordinary hours on a Saturday and/or Sunday, meaning not less than 10 such days in any 12 month period (clause 22.1(b)). The trigger is weekend work, not night work, so permanent afternoon shift Monday to Friday does not qualify.

Leave loading17.5%

Day workers get a flat 17.5% on the minimum hourly rate. Shift workers get the same flat 17.5%. The 17.5% is calculated on the annual leave payment itself (clause 22.2(b)), so for an employee on a Supported Wage System assessed rate the loading follows the assessed rate rather than the full grade rate. All-purpose allowances go in first (clause 18.2(a)). Run the numbers in the annual leave loading calculator.

Rostered Day Off (RDO)No

No formal RDO accrual cycle in this award. Time off in lieu of overtime (TOIL) may still be available.

Calculate your leave under this award

The Supported Employment Services Award sets your pay rates, but your paid leave runs on the National Employment Standards. Work out 4 weeks of holidays with the annual leave calculator, and your 10 days of paid sick and carer's leave with the personal leave calculator. Notes & exclusions. Your grade is only half the answer. Under clause 15.4(a) an employee with a disability may be paid a percentage of the clause 15.2 rate for their grade, assessed under the Supported Wage System in Schedule D, with a floor of $3.31 per hour worked. What the percentage does not do is cut your leave. Schedule D.8 applies it to the minimum wage only, so annual leave accrues in full under the NES: 4 weeks, or 5 weeks if you are regularly rostered on weekends under clause 22.1(b). The 17.5% loading is then worked out on the assessed payment, not on the full grade rate. Grade A ($316.30) and Grade B ($632.80) are real grades, for employees who cannot do Grade 1 to 7 work. Casual penalties compound rather than add, because Schedule B.2.2 takes a percentage of the loaded casual rate: casual Saturday is 187.5% and Sunday 250%. Casual overtime is additive instead. The award never states a casual public holiday rate, so we publish none. Night shift at 130% needs both employer agreement and a rotating roster (clause 21.2), and there is no permanent night shift rate in this award at all.

Who does the Supported Employment Services Award cover?
Supported Employment Services Award 2020 (MA000103) covers supported employment services, Australian Disability Enterprises. Common roles include packaging and assembly, food and beverage production, gardening, landscaping and horticulture, laundry and dry cleaning.
What is the Saturday penalty rate under the Supported Employment Services Award?
Full-time and part-time employees are paid 150% of the base hourly rate (1.50x) for working on Saturday. Casuals receive a rate this award does not state, so check the FWO pay calculator for your classification.
What is the Sunday rate under the Supported Employment Services Award?
FT/PT employees are paid 200% of the base hourly rate (2.00x) for Sunday work. Casuals receive a rate this award does not state, so check the FWO pay calculator for your classification. This is one of the higher Sunday rates in the modern-award system.
What is the public holiday rate under the Supported Employment Services Award?
FT/PT employees who work on a gazetted public holiday are paid 250% of the base hourly rate (2.50x). Casuals receive a rate this award does not state, so check the FWO pay calculator for your classification. Employees who don't work the holiday receive their ordinary day's pay if it would otherwise have been a working day.
How many weeks of annual leave do I get under the Supported Employment Services Award?
Standard full-time employees get 4 weeks of paid annual leave per year under the NES. An employee regularly rostered to work ordinary hours on a Saturday and/or Sunday, meaning not less than 10 such days in any 12 month period (clause 22.1(b)). The trigger is weekend work, not night work, so permanent afternoon shift Monday to Friday does not qualify. The 5-week entitlement comes from NES s.87(1)(b), which the Supported Employment Services Award classifies eligibility for. Calculate annual leave accrual
How is annual leave loading calculated under the Supported Employment Services Award?
Day workers get a flat 17.5% on the minimum hourly rate. Shift workers get the same flat 17.5%. The 17.5% is calculated on the annual leave payment itself (clause 22.2(b)), so for an employee on a Supported Wage System assessed rate the loading follows the assessed rate rather than the full grade rate. All-purpose allowances go in first (clause 18.2(a)). Leave loading calculator
What is the casual loading under the Supported Employment Services Award?
25% on top of the base hourly rate, in lieu of paid annual leave, paid personal leave and notice entitlements. Under this award the casual loading does NOT simply add to the penalty rates: check the penalty table, because a casual can be paid a different rate from the FT/PT rate plus loading.
Does the Supported Employment Services Award include rostered days off (RDOs)?
No. The Supported Employment Services Award does not include a formal RDO accrual cycle. Time off in lieu of overtime (TOIL) may still be available where the employer and employee agree, but it works differently from a formal RDO and is not automatically accrued.
Does the Supported Employment Services Award have evening or night-shift loadings?
Yes. Under this award, evening work shift finishing after 6pm and at or before midnight Mon-Fri attracts 115% of the base hourly rate (1.15x); night-shift work attracts 130% of the base hourly rate (1.30x). For casuals, the casual loading does not simply add to these penalty rates: see the penalty table and coverage notes.
Where do I find current pay rates by classification under the Supported Employment Services Award?
